Saved this bottle to honor a trip to Argentina years ago where I 1st had it. It is perfect with a rare steak and chimchurri sauce. Malbec has a flavor to match the acid of vinegar. This particular wine has softened over time and still has nice fruit to match the tannins. It seems to be at the height of it's flavors, but still will stay in this place for another 5 years or so

What a difference three years can make. 2016 the tannins were dominant and this time the oak treatment was just too overwhelming. I wonder if that ever can integrate. Somewhere in the background there was some fruit but hopelessly overshadowed. I will give my last bottle another 3-5 years.

"Let's spend all our money on grape juice" (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. Initially this didn't have as much overt oak, but that seemed to get more and more prominent as the afternoon went on. In any case, there was a slight bit of pyrazine and some black fruit; I guessed a peripheral Bordeaux. As one of the somms said, this is the sort of wine to give "when a 55 year old man asks for red wine."

Great value and very good with steak. Opened 5 hours before. No need to decant. Probably near the peak.

Popped and poured. Very good. Chocolate notes. Better the next day after keeping in the fridge overnight.
