This is a really great Northern Rhone syrah. It has the ripeness and wild notes of Cornas, without some of the refined nuahce the best Cornas achieve. nose shows a ton of bacon fat and roast meat, blackberries, plum, anise. Remains rather youthful at 9 years. A bit of vegetal notes. Rosemary. Palate balanced with ample acid, fine tannic structure, coating mineral, with plenty of fruit still. Secondary development there. This is remarkably good for declassified Cornas.

tannins softened up since last time we drank this one, and globally a much more pleasant drink than when younger. Classic Syrah fruits more present the 2nd day

Relates to the 2014. Disgusting. Nose of stale latrine water. Had to force myself to taste it. Like rotten meat left outside on a hot day for an unlucky mongrel. Down the sink.

Quirky Syrah with a very meaty funk that is fresh butcher's shop taken to a bit of an extreme. Reminded me of some of the really unusual Loire reds. Delicious and vibrant fruit on the palate with a lovely peppery quality that gives it energy. A bit flat on the back middle palate, but some nervy tannins make this fun and full of character.

PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs -nearly opaque dense dark red with purple tinge -black pepper bacon fat whiff of reduction ripe dark fruits -med acidity, med weight abundant ripe (but not surmature) black fruits with an earthy/mineral spine hint of black pepper, not overly complex or long, med tannins give a slightly rustic feel -smells like an unoaked baby Cote-Rotie, very pleasant and approachable, true to place, ripe but not polished, a value steal for an entry level unadorned Northern Rhone
