Light pale straw. This is a dry and crisp take on Pinot Blanc. I have not had many German PB's, so I'm not sure if this is a house or regional style. The acidic framework is definitely in front of the light citrus fruit. This needs food to wake up the palate & show some of the textural complexity. With a bite of smoked fish, it unwinds and becomes a bit fuller in the mouth, and the classic Pinot Blanc floral/herbal character emerges on the palate. Aromatically, this shows finessed florals and is a pleasure to sniff.
Once the wine warms a bit and my palate woke up, I found this to be a pleasure to drink with and without the meal.

Greenish yellow color. Green apple nose. Nice density with citrus fruit. Dry, smoky, quite piercing due to strong acidity. Stylistically, this seems to fall somewhere between riper, lusher Alsatian examples and crisp Italian Pinot Bianco. A ton of interest in this reasonably priced bottle.

Tasting with Barbara Selbach (Le Caveau, Chamblee, GA): Floral, with white fruit and nice minerality, not too serious but a very nice quaffing wine.
