Not your average riesling Does not have wood according to the Penfold information. But this a rather mineral and firm Riesling. Very little of the regular tropical fruits and petrol.

Spectator Winemaker's Dinner with Penfolds' chief winemaker Peter Gago - 108 Brasserie, London. Limited note taking. A core of fresh ripe apple fruit with hint of aromatics with a seering acid balance and touch of minerality. Bone dry. Very German GG like but with a tad more weight. Tasted as an apéritif but needs food. Drinking well now but clearly with structure for some development potential although haven't a clue how it will finish up! 90?+

Definite citrus curd on the nose and a hint of pear drops; quite delicate on the palate with nice energy - good balancing acidity. Pretty aperitif style.
