A wine they produce only during the best of vintages, this 2009 is truly a treat to the palate. The nose almost jumps out of the glass with big blueberry and blackberry, which is pretty exciting for a wine already 6 years off the vine that spent 18 months in 90% new French oak. The color is about as dark a wine gets. The fruit on the palate is almost as fresh as the nose indicates. The barrel and bottle aging have accomplished the task of integrating this wine and making it ready to drink, but there is decades of life to go. Have to to give them severe credit for how well this wine handles all that new oak. Maturing and developing tannins and youngish acid. The kind of silky, lingering finish you would expect from a wine of this pedigree.
