Second bottle that seems a bit off. Not the expected smoothness or finish you would expect from a Vintage Reserve. Will have to drink the remaining bottles soon

Gave three hours in the decanter. Dark, thick, luminous purple blue in the glass. Nose of tarry pine sap, highly concentrated black berries, forest twigs and dry stones. On the palate comes lots of blackened blueberry, espresso, bitter dark chocolate, some eucalyptus and slight dusty attic wood. More forest floor elements persist into the swallow and finish. Huge in the mouth, concentrated tannin and black fruit over an expansive rich velvet mouth feel. Finishes long and smooth with shimmering tannin throughout. PJG: 92

Wow. Somewhat disappointed. Good but not great. Not a single guest commented on the good wine. It seemed a bit off. Maybe past it’s prime?

Beautiful wine after a 2 hour decant. Paired well with Christmas dinner of beef tenderloin. Hearty, smooth cherry with pleasant finish.
