Phillip Togni Retrospective: Brief tasting, no detailed notes. Very nice nose of anise and spice still. No color assessment, still drinking nicely today.

Philip Togni vertical (1983-96) (Chicago, IL): Probably one of my favourites of the evening. This is a fully mature bottle, with a delicate, elegant perfume on the nose that shows a little bit of dried fruit and a touch of green pepper and dried herbs. The palate is fully resolved; there is still structure, but it is enrobed with plush secondary fruit. If I had to criticize, it's that the fruit is just a little touch more browned and mature, but it's mostly a quibble. This is probably at the end of its plateau; for my palate, this is in an awesome place, and should be opened now.

Unbelievable Bottle! Nose 100, Taste near by. With my best Friends Titti and Spletti at the special evening "Norbert 33 K" direct after a 89er Mouton who is also good but has no Chance against this Togni-Monument. Elegant, silky, fruity AND deep with an fantastic length, powerful andandand. I wish i had more. Nearly perfect Wine.

Amazing at 30 years old! Opened and decanted, consumed over a 2 hour period. It just seemed to get better. Definitely ready to go, but I suspect it will last for many more years.

incredibly well structured for 20 years old ... rich and tannic ... grapy nose, followed by some must ... great balance
