Such a great wine.. and so glad i have a few more to enjoy over the next years. Would say the notes left by Hoservin on 11/20/2021 are pretty much spot on.. nothing additional to really add other than this shows no signs of age.. so pop it to enjoy now.. or hold for the future.
Wine was decanted and drank over a 4 hour period... and was enjoyable from the initial pnp.... in fact i think this may have lost a little with so much air .. and next time would slow ox in bottle, maybe a quick decant but back into bottle after....
Decanted for two hours. Beautiful nose of blackberry liquor, blueberry, currant, baker’s chocolate, cedar, licorice and spice. Ripe black fruit, baker’s chocolate, licorice, spice and cedar on the palate. Elegantly balanced with an exceptionally long finish. Full bodied with excellent depth. Likely my 2021 WOTY. Served with reverse seared strip steaks and a mushroom, cognac, cream sauce.

Ken's Head to Head high-low blind shootout (Casa Tomek): Wonderfully complex nose with notes of dark fruits, clove and cassis. Powerful wine on the palate that is just beginning to integrate, layers of fruit unfold on a very long finish. Showing some secondary characteristics but has plenty of room to improve. Top-notch wine that can get better. Sad this is my last bottle. Unanimous 1 of 2 and the more expensive wine of the 2.

In the echelon of top tier modern Napa cabs, the 13 Elysian holds its footing, particularly on day #2. For those keeping score at home, this is decidedly in the “gobs of fruit” category. Oozing with purple and blue fruits, the wine gains weight and sheds fat on day 2. Silky and massive, but a standard bearer nonetheless
