Interesting and complicated wine. Color is medium garnet with some brown, not particularly opaque. Nose is surprisingly "hot" although the ETOH is not all that high. Some green/sour notes that mellow with decanting (slowly, think 1+ hours).
Nose is aromatic with sour cherries, some flowers, though more muted than many Barbarescos and Barolos, along with significant earthy minerality.
This is food wine. Amazing things happened on two nights (same bottle) when consumed with a 1) Beef braise and 2) rack of lamb (smoked basically). It is absolutely magical with red meat - enhancing the mat through the fat, and the fat taming any green or sour notes.
Most professionals seem to think the drinking window ends around 2021 (tow years ago). I beg to differ. We thought this had at least a decade to go. Of course this depends on how well it is cellared. I have a non-temp-controlled but deep dug north-east true cellar.
I'd typically like to heave even more flower and spice on the nose, but given how this played with the two different meat dishes, bring it on!

Very impressed by this bottle! To be clear, this isn’t nuanced with layers of complexity, but nor was this my expectation given that I am usually skeptical of barbaresco/barolo under ~$30 (and rightfully so, in my opinion). But this wine is classic nebbiolo…initially had this blind and called it before I even put the wine in my mouth (and I’m not a particularly strong blind taster).
Wilted violets, clay pot, tobacco, black tea, cranberry, and a touch of menthol. Clear signs of bricking with a distinctive burnt orange color at the rim. Grippy tannins and bright acidity. I don't anticipate this bottle will improve significantly with more age, but I also don’t see this going downhill anytime soon. Wish I had a few more bottles to see how this evolves. I wouldn’t be surprised if this held up well to the 20 year mark.

I continue to be very impressed with this co-op wine. Drinks with very solid and characteristic barbar elements. Has aged flawlessly. Almost done with the 1/2 case, wishing I would have bought a full case. At $18/btl a ridiculous bargain.

Working through a half-case of these. This continues to be quite excellent and true to place. I opened this about 10 days ago, drank a couple glasses, then had to put this in the fridge under pump for about 10d while working through a bug. Returning to it, I am surprised how well it has held up. Very clean classic neb notes. Co-op or not, there is absolutely nothing not to like here, especially for the price.

In Vino Veritas (in wine there is truth; people speak the truth when they are drunk), bottle #124 of my cellar sacrifices. Another 2011 Barbaresco from Cantina del Nebbiolo. This was a light bodied wine that had a little bit of brown tinge to it as a result of the aging; a good match for the pizza I had the other evening. Glad I have a few more of these! 😀🍷🍷👍 👍#wine #winelover #winelovers #redblend #redblendwine #CantinadelNebbiolo #Barbaresco #italianwines
