Awful. Took several sips. Let it breathe, took several other sips. Down the sink it went. It was a gift from my dad who I know loves the Ramos Pintos Port. I do believe this bottle was flawed though.

Purchased for $35. Tasted for #tawnytuesday. Dark mahogany in color with ruby hues. The 10 Year Tawny comes from a single Quinta, Quinta de Ervamoira, which is the eastern-most Quinta owned by Ramos Pinto. Located in a plateau, as opposed to the usual hillsides we often picture when we think "Douro", at an altitude of 100-500m. The nose reminds me of sweet pipe tobacco . Notes of dates, walnuts , vanilla pipe tobacco. The acidity and tannins are in perfect harmony. The mouth feel is outstanding. A touch heat on the finish.

(NV Ramos Pinto Porto 10 Year Old Tawny Quinta de Ervamoira) Bricked medium red violet color; aromatic, walnut, dried cherry nose; walnut, dried cherry palate; medium-plus finish
(NV Ramos Pinto Porto 10 Year Old Tawny Quinta de Ervamoira) Although this wine is light and stylish, Ramos Pinto knows how to blend wood-aged Ports, delivering a rich tawny that shows greater depth than its age would indicate. Amber-orange in color, with a golden meniscus. Spicy scents of cinnamon and nutmeg play against the fragrant fig and walnut in a striking, highly pleasurable nose. An initial touch of warming alcohol is quickly overtaken by crème caramel, sweet dried fig, and cashew flavors with a citrus backdrop. Enough acidity to carry the nutty sweetness through a delightful, persistent finish. Fit to Be Fortified

Un très bon tawny fruité, l'alcool est discret, au second plan. Facile à boire et délicieux. 90 pts

Decanter Fine Wine Encounter (The Landmark, London): Fresh charming, easy, dried fruits and nuts, controlled. Arguably a little simple but perfectly pleasant.
