Had this sitting around so long I forgot about it. Thought it might be a little over the hill, but still quite nice. Big nose, lots of fruit. Typical Ridge zin, big and bold to start, very jammy. Medium finish. Not bad for a 10 year old zin that cost $28. I have more recent vintages and will be drinking them soon based on how this one has aged.
Bright and vibrant in color for being 8 years old. Clear. Big punch in thee nose...acidity, light fruit. Lots of fruit and some acidity on the palate. Not over the top. Well balanced and somewhat mellow for its age. Smooth to the very end. This is a blend of 96% Zin, 3% petite sirah, and 1% carignane. I would have to argue that there may be a bit more carignane than listed as it comes across on the palate. Overall a well made wine and worth the wait.

(RIDGE PONZO VINEYARD ZINFANDEL) #2; COLOR-darker; NOSE-much more focused, black pepper, ripe fruit (raspberry & strawberry), earth tones; TASTE-nice fruit, little mushroom truffle aspect on mid-palate, little heat, little dark black raspberry, solid mid-palate, finishes really strong, good w/ a hearty meal, good structure, good candied fruit, but balanced w/ Old World flavors as well, like to see this in 7 years; RP-91; GV-90
