Firm black cherry with good density, just still slightly backward. Opened up slowly with more time in glass, best when finished at the three hour mark. Barely at the start of its peak drinking window, a late blooming Broadley.

Very nice structure, rich plum and berry fruit on the palate. Not a huge nose. This may be the best of what's left of Broadley's Shea, as the '15s are not nearly as good and they apparently aren't taking any more fruit from this vineyard.

Fermented in a 3 ton open top Taransaud wood fermentor for 14-21 days. Aging was done in 30% new Francois Freres barrel and the balance in neutral barrel for 12 months. Light decant given. Moderate aromas offer black cherry and black raspberry notes with a combination of black pepper, mocha, rose petal and a whisper of earth and smoke. The palate is giving reinforcing the nose with dark cherry, raspberry, cola, mocha, spice, earth and florals. Chalky tannins and a lingering finish. A restrained Burgundian style Pinot that needs ample air time at this stage to show its best.

Beautiful nose of roses and fresh berries, great acid balance and a bit tannic on the palate. Exciting and volatile, this was the WOTN for me.
