  • Not bad at this price tag
Opened and poured not a fruit bomb like the Mollys

  • Not decanted, consumed over ~2 1/2 hours. Exuberantly youthful, still a bit purple in the glass. Smoky cured meat, black pepper, and rich dark fruit on the nose, delightful to smell. On the palate, this shows tart cherries and blueberries, with hints of baking spices intermingling with the pepper and meat. The website mentions 25% whole cluster, and it shows in some subtle high-toned notes. Dusty tannins and an earthy finish. I like the balance here, and think it's just coming together - this should have several good years ahead of it. 91+, and for me, one of the nicest reds we've opened in a while.

  • To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what to make of this wine right now. The nose is super fruity and jammy, with heaps of black fruit and a slight hint of black peppercorn behind it all. When I tasted it though, I called something like 12-12.5% abv. I was a whole point too low. Go figure. It's quite elegant and light on the palate, but there's just too much plush fruit obscuring everything else right now. This will need maybe a decade or so to chill out -- I think that with all the fruit now, the wine will be able to show some secondary characteristics and still hold plenty of fruit then. But I guess we'll see about that in a decade.

  • This has lots of sweet and ripe dark fruits on the palate, but remains fairly balanced with a backbone of acid and a hint of smoke and olive; Definitely a fruit forward wine but not overbearing in any way

  • Aromas of plums, spice and a touch floral. Grapey, slightly sweet in the mouth. Slightly lacking acidity, otherwise a decent wine.
