I am not a fan of Chilean Cabernets, but this wine compares favorably with petit Bordeaux — many of which are today merlot-based — in the same price range. Its cabernet sauvignon character is evident, as is judicious wood — which many inexpensive Bordeaux are today lacking. Plus, due to its modest dusting of tannins, it will most definitely improve with time. I strongly suspect that, if put in a blind tasting with Bordeaux and U.S. Cabernet in the same price range, this very nice Cabernet Sauvignon would surprise many tasters.

Drank with Janie, Pete, Katie, Matt, and Jacq. Served with grilled hamburgers, corn on the cob, and pasta salad. Served side by side with 2011 Finish Terrae Cousino-Macul. Generally the crew preferred this wine to the Finish Terrae. Nonetheless both wines drank well with an early August meal.
