  • CBCC fall wine tasting event featuring 44 wines total.

A lighter Pinot than I was expecting. Dominant strawberry & raspberry flavors and a medium length finish. What struck me was the strange flavors at the finish. There was a definite finish of forest floor or wet leaves which made this exciting.

  • Like fading autumn, where the sun hangs low against a clear November sky, the 2013 Raptor Ridge Pinot Noir Barrel Select offers integrated, finely wrought aromas of red cherries and dried mushrooms, decomposing leaves, woodsy trails and campfire smoke. And yet, it's stunningly fresh on the palate, with vivid acidity lending tension to layers of red fruit and dulcet, savory tones underpinned by iron ore, brown spices and earthiness on the finish. 12.5% ABV Sample

  • A few blind Pinots (My Place - Washington, DC): Medium ruby color. Love the aromas, plenty of sour and red cherries, wild strawberries, matched equally with notes of pickle, bay leaf, barnyard and smoke. Fine, light tannins, brisk and refreshing acid, a precise approach. Sour cherries, strawberries and raspberries taste tart and juicy, backed up by flavors of beef broth, dusty earth, charcoal pit and some white pepper, hints of light roast coffee. Tangy, fresh, pretty and vibrant, ready to drink but enough structure to last a few years. 12.5% alcohol, aged nine months in 25% new French oak.

  • They combined two prior bottlings to make this (Willamette and Reserve). Nose jumps out, pomegranate, red cherry, raspberry, sweet roses, cranberry syrup. Palate not quite as expressive, more subtle style, good acidity, light to no tannins, could show a little more.

  • Recent blind tasting. Was confident this would be my least favorite of all 6, but was in top 2 for sure. Complex nose, earth. Taste follows the nose with a nice medium finish. Great wine for the price point. I am not fan of the screw top, but raptor ridge gained a fan.
