Ho hum, just a regular day tasting 1935 D'YQUEM! The wine was not a blockbuster and Chris says the vintage was not particularly noteworthy (nor in Burgundy), but it was regal and lovely. (Oriental Garden)

Purchased ex-chateau through Zachy's in 2005, and as a result this was a pristine bottle. Not a vintage I've had before, and it was on the dryer side, with a shorter finish. We're drinking less Sauternes these days, but when we do, good provenance old bottles are a great way to do it.

Chateau d'Yquem Masterclass (Amber, Hong Kong): Amazing - bright gold still! Looks quite young. Fresh citrus fruits with medium-low sweetness and balanced acidity. Some precipitate in the glass. The flavours, although lots of fruits, are actually relatively simple. Extraordinary.

Not necessarily a standout but very enjoyable, played to type well, and showed a surprising amount of vigor on the palate. Nice finish
