P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt fairly quickly met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it fairly seamlessly transitions into a LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with an attractive bitter/swtness to the (eventually) potentially elegant, DUSTY tannins. NEEDS through '22, prob '23, I'm guessing, then drinking for 5 yrs more? 13.5% ABV; My EXC+ (94,95/100 on that metric), with everything SEEMING in place for Exceptional-(96,97)... eventually. 90 pts WS (10/31/95); [As of late Oct '19, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $85].

opened, decanted, and served within 15 minutes. Dark, deep red. Initial muted nose opened to dark cherry and maybe a little sun dried tomato. on the palate initially a bit astringent and tannic but opened up wonderfully after one hour to a delightfully spicy rich sangio set of flavors with excellent structure and length. Recommend further aging and at least a one hour decant before serving.

Friday Tasting Group: "Killer Bar" (#05 for me) (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): N: ATTRACTIVELY *ripe* berries with HINTS of mint? Other aromas I found unparsable

WCC Pre-2000 Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti (Fort Orange Club, Albany, NY): Smoky nose of red fruit. Delicious. Long and complex. Easily the wine of the flight.

Smooth. Tannins mostly gone; lovely subtle flavor. Enjoyed with lightly spiced Tri-tip and complemented well.

Agree with previous CT notes: Cigar box, black tea. Still quite smooth, but unlikely to improve any further...
