Popped and poured. I have never had this wine. Terrific nose. Honey, apricots, quince and tropical fruits. The palate is hedonistic but balanced and delicious. Very Sauternes like but lighter and more pure.

I have long believed that there is no better sweet Bordeaux, with the expedition of Ch. d'Yquem, than Morlet's Billet Doux. And the 2011 vintage, plagued by rain that made everything else so challenging, is a triumph and the best every version. The nose is incredibly deep with beeswax, mint, sugar crystals. Sticky and everything you went from a Sauternes. This will go another 30 years or more.

The 2011 Morlet Family Vineyards Billet Doux is a stunning achievement. Typically California sweet Bordeaux attempts are overly sweet and gummy. This reminds me of the very best of Sauternes with its mix of sweet and savory including apricots, honey, and stone fruit. Not much outside of d'yquem beats this for me.

Similar notes to April 2018 tasting. Excellent match with the spiced pumpkin roll

Rich concentrated fruit, apricots, citrus, and honey. Long finish and a great accompaniment with shortbread cookies and chocolate buckeyes
