Solid value at sub-$16 in Ontario. Traditional with blue fruit and plenty of smokey, meaty appeal on the nose and palate. Smooth and round with relatively low acidity. Seductive.

This is probably the 5th bottle I've had. Definitely a lot of personality and very interesting to observe the wine change throughout the bottle. All of them have been a little Brett-y but this most recent bottle the most so. The worst of it seems to blow off after about 15-20 minutes.

Bottled under screw cap. Popped and poured. Deep garnet in colour in the glass. Very traditionally styled, with notes of dark fruits; blueberry, blackberry; smouldering pine needles, smoked meat, black pepper, leather, black olive brine and horse stable. On the palate, more round than expected, with mild tannin, medium acidity. Finish is moderate, accentuated with notes of dark fruits, pepper, dried herb, smoke and olive. Not too much upside here, but a lovely low cost near term drinker with character.

The house style continues here. Very consistent wine vintage to vintage. The nose is of roasted meat, black olive, creosote, bacon, a big hit of blueberry and a hint of blue bubblegum. The palate is lush and mouth filling with low tannin, moderate acid and a sweet blue fruited finish accented by the excellent old-world syrah notes of smoke and olive.

c'était le 3e vin de la soirée, j'étais chaudaille...bien aimé, assez charnu et épicé, bon fruit, rond, très bien.
