Medium garnet. Nose of damp soil, currant, plum pits, hyacinth. After about an hour, the palate softened and exhibited feathered medium-weight layers of red/dark plum, blackberry, earth, traces of green pepper, and beef blood. Fresh acidity and filed off tannin. Longer finish of black currant, green leaf, and lovely grip. Quite a welcoming, delicious wine.

Agree with the note directly below, though with the floral aromatics a bit more prominent. On day 2, a very slight gamy note emerged which actually complemented the berry fruit nicely.

Dark garnet. Nose of dense graphite, blackberry, cassis, faint floral notes. Brooding on the palate but giving off black currant, juicy blackberry, licorice, and earth on the palate. Dusty tannin and balancing acidity. Long finish of rocky soil and black plum. Showing very young. Give this another 5-8 years.

Exquisite, with 10-15 years of stuffing left easy. No notes, just enjoyment. Silky-palated, medium-weight but lithe. Red fruit, and a distinct recollection of mint. (Some debate over what type of mint.) Everyone loved, though this went unfetishized as the third of four bottles amidst a perfect friendenfeasten.

Loire Valley (Pearl&Ash, NYC): Dark sweet cherry upfront, juicy, coiled. A well balanced fruit driven wine that lingers on and unpacks secondary aromas after every sip. Menthol, mushrooms, plums -- enjoyable and bold.
