Quiet nose of plums and anise. Softened by age and food-friendly. A bit of textural grittiness that becomes more apparent with each sip. Strong anise finish that dominates other flavors. Good, though not the best bottle of Montiano I've had.

Has very much smoothed out in the last year. Nose a bit more muted, still got plum, chocolate and oak, but didn't find anything else. A nice full finish however tannins were not overwhelming at all. Has integrated nicely, wish this wasn't my last bottle.

Still a punchy bruiser! Deep dark colour, still with a purple edge. Not much nose but the palate hits you. Chocolate, plums and still some woody notes. Puckering tannins still present. Am sure this has softened a bit but has still got a few years left it in.

Beautiful big bold Merlot. Not your typlcal fruit foward, drink now Napa merlot. Drank deep red/purple color with thick strong legs. Nose had chocolate, plum, blackberry oak and mushroom present. The palate presented some plum again, blackcurrant, pomegranate and some subtle spiciness. It does have a nice full finish with strong tannins.

My last half bottle was terrible. This half bottle on the other hand was still very enjoyable. All brought at same time and stored. Nice surprise.
