Maintains it's it's dark ruby color-no brick. Dark cherry and current on the nose and palate. I did not think it was was past as most Cellar Trackers did as I enjoyed the softened tannins and still bold fruit.

Our second Hartford wine solidified my thinking that Dry Creek and Russian River (both Sonoma) are making the best Zins today. This single-vineyard offering is almost 7 years old, but still needed some time to open up and it did, nicely. The berries and spice surround a core of elegance and depth that make this such a perfect pairing with so many different food choices, or by itself...it is not so alcohol or fruit-extracted that it couldn't be enjoyed by itself. My only negative was that the cork crumbled and could not be removed by traditional corkscrews, but we were able to punch a hole and run it through a sieve into a decanter to catch the cork remains, which has always worked in these situations. Highly recommend Hartford Zins at any price point. Must brag that we got the two remaining bottles of the 2012 at a closeout at a fraction of the cost and other than the cork, it paid off! Drink 2019 or 2020. See it declining after 2020, but does not need much air just now, we were forced to decant, but it didn't remain there long! One more bottle left.

Bright crimson in color. 14.6% ABV. Brilliant nose of red fruits, anise, cocoa and pepper. Medium body with mouth watering acidity. Elegant, well balanced, Claret style Zinfandel. Crushed raspberries, cherries, blood orange and spice on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Delicious Zinfandel from a historic vineyard. Best over the next year or so.

Soft, elegant with good acidity and balance. Bing cherry flavors and a little spice with a long finish.
