  • Not a great rasteau, from not a great year.

  • A blend of grenache and Syrah.

Slightly translucent dark cherry red color. Quite juicy and dark-toned nose with brooding yet sunny aromas of juicy dark berries, ripe cherries, some earthy funk, a little bit of wizened plummy fruit, light toasty oak tones and a perfumed hint of floral character. The wine is rich, full-bodied and sweetly-fruited on the palate with ripe and quite intense flavors of blackberry marmalade, jammy red fruits, some savory dark fruits, a little bit of fresh red plum, light blackcurrant jam tones, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of savory woody character. The wine is only medium in acidity, but the moderately stern and grippy tannins lend some welcome firmness and sense of structure to the wine. The finish is long, moderately grippy and somewhat warm with ripe and sweet-toned flavors of juicy strawberries, cherry pit, some blackcurrant marmalade, a little bit of peppery spice and a hint of plummy fruit.

A nice, firm and serious Rhône red that shows a bit too much oak character for my taste, but otherwise performs pretty well. Stylistically the wine sits somewhere between a Châteauneuf-du-Pape and a Village-tier Côtes-du-Rhône with its intense fruit, muscular structure and decent depth of fruit. An enjoyable effort that probably drinks better young than with some age, although I believe the wine can continue to develop for at least a few years more. A pleasant and reliable effort at a reasonable price (approx. 16€).

  • Aggressive acidity and aromas of red fruits. Palate not balanced. Not much to say, but to be able to drink this, decant for more than 1 hr.

  • Des attentes plutôt un peu déçues, manque de corps, pourtant les saveurs de fruits rouges étaient tout de même présentes.
