This wine with a cherry-tawny hue is medium-bodied with silky smooth tannins that has matured well. Given maturity it is not super jammy but there is fruit on the nose and flavors of cherry, oak, with spice in the long followthrough with some bitter. This is holding so well and should do ok for another couple of years so I would extend its drinking window to 2022.

Decanted for 45 minutes. Blueberry fruit, slightly sweet. While pleasant, this wine was somewhat one-dimensional with not much complexity. This zinfandel does not compare favorably to other Mauritson Rockpile zinfandels from the same great vintage.

Tasting at Mauritson Winery, Dry Creek (Mauritson Winery): Medium red cherry and strawberry. Silkier than some of the others. Smoky with some tar, nice balance. One of the best built wines of the tasting. A little perfume and flowers. Very good.
