Remarkably consistent with my note from 4+ years ago. Maybe a little less herbal now, but a longer finish. Throwing a large amount of sediment. Over three days open and still going strong.

Opened and poured into a Gabriel Glas stem. Deep purple garnet color. Nose offers some wet wool, olive and beef blood. A little funk. Wonderful sweet-savory fruit with oil cured olives and cured pork elements. Nice acidity to make the mouth water. Quite impressive. Delicious wine. 13.8% abv. Basic Diam cork.
I have tasted many of Ed's wines, under Sandler as well as other wineries. This is my first Sandler syrah. (Have had Roar syrahs that I think Ed had a hand in making.) Ten year's plus from its born-on-date and it remains fresh and vibrant. And it speaks to cool climate Cali-syrah. Well done.

It's said the wine always has the last word. I'd found bottles of this in the past few years to be too austere and rather uninteresting. The last two bottles open have been more interesting in a difficult to pinpoint way. A bit more harmonious, smoother and perhaps a bit of fruit has re-emerged.

stems seem fully integrated, this bottle showed a bit smoother than I recall previous ones, still very savory with moderate tannin and acidity to give it a frame

similar to prior notes. Still drinking quite nicely, and plenty of life left.
