Community Tasting Notes (5) Median Score: 88 points

  • Ruby red. Good amount of sediment, would benefit from decaying. Notes based off of an open bottle in the fridge for four days. Indeterminate light stone fruit nose. Slightly sweet, plum in the mouth, with a balance of dirty and earth. Decent acid finish, low tannins. A little to sweet for the initial pairing of marinara and meatballs, but paid nicely with a sesame-heavy Asian sauce over pan seared chicken.

  • Typical Nero d'Avola Great with quinoa pasta and Lucini pasta sauce and Portabello mushrooms stuffed with spinach. Went well with the chocolate dessert

  • A little more watery than other Nero's I've had, and lacking the earthy bite, but nice upfront cherry notes and decent structure. Perfectly good drink.

  • Italian Show by La Cava de Pyrene (Restaurante Couzapin - Madrid): Anchovies on the nose, quite soft on the palate.
Nice surprise because usually basic Nero isn't so suave as this was.
Very commercial and a good seller.

Anchoas en nariz muy suave en boca. Sorpresa agradable porque la Nero no suele alcanzar esta suavidad a este nivel.
    Muy comercial y vendible

  • The wine is clear with a deep ruby colour and presence of inky legs. The nose is clean with medium intensity aromas of red cherries, ripe plums, liquorice, black pepper, pyrazine and hints of cedar. It's dry in the mouth with a medium refreshing acidity, medium fine grained tannins, medium alcohol, medium+ body and medium+ intensity flavours of red cherries, ripe plums, black pepper, liquorice and integrated hints of cedar that suggest some development. Medium finish. It's a good quality wine that shows a moderate amount of complexity and a decent acidic structure as well as a good amount of fruit concentration. However it should have some more balance, tannins and even more complexity to be considered a very good quality wine. Can drink now, but has enough structure and fruit concentration to develop well in the next 3-4 years.
