  • Some aged Rieslings to beat the heat (Tac-Quick, Chicago IL): nose: excellent and polished nose of honey, white fruits, lemon drops, tart citrus tones, minerals and bits of white peaches. Well balanced and has good layering on it that comes with a bit of age

taste: fuller bodied with balanced and layered tones of honey, white fruits, white peaches, and bits of lemon drops. Very good medium acidity shows itself, but is more complimentary at this point

overall: A real classy and mature ZH. Real good weight on the palate and shows off a real elegant maturity to the wine

  • I was rummaging through the cellar for some wine for a party tomorrow night, planning on opening a cheap white burg for accompaniment. But then I saw this half bottle which was clearly a bad leaker and thought what the heck? The capsule was cemented on, and the cork saturated through. After straining bit of cork and whatever the hell else was floating in the glass, the wine was a deep golden color. Apricots and honey on the nose. Full-bodied with lanolin and honey on the palate, with some acid zing. A very nice surprise.

  • Young straw color and fresh nose. Would not pick this for a 95. Good fruit, but not loaded with it. Some petrol and acid on finish. Nice wine, more balanced than some of the big ZHs, but given the fruit I would be afraid to hold it too long. B+

  • drank with thai green curry that I made. this wine has settled down and is really lovely now. still a dark yellow. nose has hints of petrol, mouthfeel is balanced, tropcal fruit with caramel, very smooth. Finally a mature ZH reisling, and I really like the concentration, complexity and balance. Whoo hoo.
