  • Nice showing. Black raspberry, dark cherry, and cedar bouquet displays a streak of earthy complexity. Mid-to-full bodied, linear, with nice presence and structure, which makes this come across as balanced, settled, and resolved. A kiss of bottle age pushes through the finish.

  • Drinkable but several years past its prime - has no character or structure left and the fruit is faded

  • Not as ecstatic about this wine as I was in 2010. I guess I was right about it being at its peak. I'd better drink my remaining bottle soon. Wine would have probably benefitted from more time opeing up.

  • I guess if I would have read my earlier note, I would have saved this for another couple of years as an experiment. But I didn't, and I'm not unhappy about it.

Pop/pour. 88 pts initially. Drinking quite well this evening. More mid-weight on the nose than the bottle a year ago...a bit brighter. Early on it requires a good bit of sloshing to tease out some aromatics. Palate is likewise midweight, though with a slight hollow spot in the midpalate. Longish finish with noticeable but balanced oak. A nice wine, but leaves me wanting for a bit more. Perhaps some more air time would have helped.....almost seems like its in a "dumb" phase, though I'm not sure where it's going from here.

Update: 2 hours later, everything opens up. Nose - more aromatic, with some secondary aged character showing through. Hollow spot fills in big time. Flaws gone....and this becomes something pretty special for the price. 91 pts and that might be conservative.
