'Size Matters': Berry Bros. Magnum Tasting (Berry Bros., Central, Hong Kong): Small pour from a magnum opened for 2 hours but not decanted. Very light totally transparent lambs blood. Nose is quite high-toned and lacquered. Hidden depths of strawberries and sous bois but all lurking in the background. Palate is rather dried out, very earthy, interesting. Very harmonic and light but powerful resonance. Intriguing. But a bit green....which is the hallmark of the vintage. Good QPR for a Burgundy 1er Cru.

Lighter suppler mouthfeel than the 04 de Montille Volnay 1er Cru Mitans; but the tones are just as austere as de Montille's effort: then vinyl, then oxidized port, tire: little fruit...wonder if this would have refined over the years. I doubt it or the de Montille would've.

A Few Wines at Wally's Inaugural Wine Auction (Whitney Museum of American Art - New York NY): Floral support masks some of the green aromatic character, but it's clearly there, clearly 2004. Well made with good red fruit, albeit underripe.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Alas, too easy to identify as 2004 Burgundy. Bitter and green.
