See note from last October, this bottle is still going strong and is very enjoyable, I have a 2013 in my cellar now, hopefully it matches this 2012 vintage.

Hour decant, a very interesting nose of dark raspberry and nutmeg, this had some other interesting element that I could not quite identify, almost stone and mineral like. The palate has medium tannins and bright acidity with a very pleasant peppery note. This is a full bodied wine with a long finish and some intriguing secondary notes that add complexity, a very entertaining wine that adds up to a great QPR. Best American barbera I have had hands down.

Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Very deep garnet color. Nice nose of black cherries, hard spices, earth, and must. Medium-full on the palate, as tarry notes intrude on the black cherry flavors. Not firm on the palate, rather toward softness as extraction throws a hood over the varietal character. Finishes fast with low grip and very low tannins. Simple, dark, extracted, and--last but not least--drinkable.

Not bad. Nice oak, nice balance, soft tannins and overall a good, can't-go-wrong wine. My only problem is that I had Far Niente first. You can't follow that shit up. -__-
