  • Vanilla oak perfume dominate the nose upon opening, with some ripe black cherry and licorice root. The palate is surprisingly broad, with sweetly ripe black cherry, some toasty oak, a bit of earth and nice fresh acids. It's a fairly modern style, with oak intensity and fruit sucrosity a little past my comfort level. But after extended (6 hrs) airing the oaky notes attenuated a bit and the palate took to a deeper, more concentrated and mineral-hued track that was quite exciting. This is a good wine now if the style suits you, with a rather bright future if the oak integrates.
