So....bottle #3 of this wine. On nose and palate: happily on par with my tasting notes from bottle #1 back in January, with fresh notes of red currant and a ghost of cinnamon added to the mix of darker fruit flavours and well rounded acidity, vibrant with no earthy or muddy notes like bottle #2....3 more bottles left!

Bottle #2 , since 8 months ago. On nose: curious note of toasted coconut and damp earth. On palate: follow through of the above notes, as well as very ripe blackberry, coffee and a ghost of milk chocolate, faint notes of coriander and pepper also emerge.....this wine, while fully mature and tasty, lacks the acidity for further ageing.....I have 4 more bottles, which will be drunk between now and Christmas....it may be on a downward slide....went well with ham and potato salad tonight.....not quite as fresh as bottle #1.

So...my FIRST bottle of this from a case of six , purchased back in 2014: the wine is 10 years old. On nose:damp earth, brick dust and ripe blackberries. On palate: total follow through of above flavours , in addition to coffee, faint nuances of persimmon and Seville orange peel, and notes of red currant and coriander....a thouroughly savoury wine, with a clean backbone of acidity and softened tannins ( after a 2 hour decant )...a deep purple/ black in the glass, with a bright, deep red rim.....can age for another decade, unfiltered, well made ...great wine with roast pork, beef or venison ...a fine Negroamaro.
