Agree with darker red fruits and brambles. Bit austere initially that quickly gave way to a well balanced wine with a solid backbone. Still has plenty of time left. Wish I had more.

CDLR: Rousseau vs Ponsot (East Side): Aired in bottle for some time already. Drank over 1.5+ hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of earth, stony minerality, red cherries, mint, slight greenness. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), smooth medium tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, red plum, mint, sweet spice, dark Chinese herb. Long finish. Very good quality. Clearly Grand Cru quality. Lovely spice note on the palate adding nuance. Slight green of 2004 showing but acceptable. Drinking well now, and probably over the next 5+ years.

Ruby hue. Nose open from the get-go offering pine forest, raspberry, stone, violets, and soy. Delicate but intense layers of pure cranberry and red raspberry fruit on the palate cut with brambles, underbrush, iron particles, and earth. No green notes discernible. Sharp acidity and firm tannin leading to longer finish of red berry, austere stone, and gentle grip. Quietly delicious, balanced wine revealing its vineyard origins quite nicely.
