remember drinking this wine in 08 when it was closed and just showing some latent potential. Now, this wine is bursting with flavours and not showing much signs of age. It is a dark ruby with a tinge of orange on the edge, but I would not guess this wine is almost a decade old -- based on colour. On the nose it has intense cherry fruit, cola, tea, sassafras, and very little musky/barnyard. It has some decent weight and nice acidity -- seems like it has some life ahead (3-5 yrs). I know 04 was not that highly regarded, but this is a killer wine.
Opened and let breath on the chiller for 1hr. Good earthy nose and mushroom soft roundness on the palate. Just a hint of spice on the backend and has nice drawn out finish. Pretty good structure and decent complexity. Le Poisenot is definitely better for another $25. Will try the '05 but it's almost the price of the Poisenot--supposedly much more going on though.
