May 2022 - Lunch with Peter & friends (Tian Fu): Side by side with the 2014, this wasn't as expressive. Still a beautiful, structured Burgundy but the nose and palate were more austere. It's not giving yet. Black cherry and berries, some spices, and dried herbs but it feels restrained. The finish is a little short. Needs time?

Un 2013 plus sérieux et moins ouvert que d’autre bu depuis 1 an ou 2. Un vin puissant, profond mais n’ayant pas développé beaucoup de complexité à ce stade. Beaucoup de fruits noirs avec un côté herbal et une belle presence en bouche. Bonne longueur. La prochaine devra attendre encore au minimum 5 ans.

Barrel tasting at Domaine Pierre Damoy (Gevrey Chambertin): Barrel tasting at domaine. Shared as a bonus bottle after the 2016s. I found this much more closed than the 2016 barrel samples (perhaps not surprisingly). The nose is a little bit duller without the same intensity, but consistent with the meat, spice and black cherry. The palate is similarly one or two ticks down from the 2016s, with tasty black cherry, earth tones and spice. Just not as intense or generous right now. 2-3 points of upside with 10+ years in the cellar. 92-94 points.
