  • Medium body, taste is light cherry bitter and acidic with bittersweet tannin. Needs the right food to mellow

  • Was slightly disappointed. Had a chance to try a taste at an event and brought home a bottle. The taste was fresh and fruity with some nice "Old World" earthy nuances. At home, it was probably a mistake, but we decanted. Pouring into the decanter was some very expressive fresh strawberry and red raspberry. The first taste after decant, the fruit on the lips was still pretty vibrant, but most of the rest of the flavors came off as fairly bland. We kept some overnight. The vibrant fresh fruit was gone, but the raspberry preserves flavors was a nice trade off. And some steely, mineral flavors appeared. Just open this bottle and share with a couple of friends immediately and enjoy.

  • Poured with a bright ruby coloring. The nose gave a blast of strawberries and some raspberry while the flavor profile was of red fruit. However, the astringency typical of d'Asti barbera came through almost immediately. At first I thought the astringency resulted from a poor match with the acidity of the tomatoes in the lasagna, but it faded only slightly long after dinner ended.
