Decanted for one hour. Aromas of blackberry, black plum, smoked meat, vanilla bean and spice. Blackberry, blueberry, plum, smoked meat, licorice, vanilla, spice and fine tannins on the palate. Very long, layered finish. Full bodied. Drinking very well. Served with grilled tuna steaks.

Been 5 years since my last note, time for an update. 2+hrs in, this is phenomenal. Blackberry, blueberry, smoked meat greet the nose. Explosive red fruit with lush texture, tangy acid and grippy tannins. Very crunchy and chewy mid-palate sporting the signature Las Madres black olive. I take a break and go turn the meat on the grill and as I come back in the house my mouth is still puckering and savoring the lingering finish. For what Las Madres offers this wine has it in spades. Dare I try the Whole Cluster. This wine rocks! Drinking window extended another 8 years easy from the currently listed 2022.
Significant sediment down the neck of the bottle. Pour slowly.

Decanted about 30min, blackberry, cherry fruit with a little spice and bacon on the backend. Maybe a bit of a fruit bomb a little sweet but still very enjoyable. Good acidity so it could probably use a few more years on it side.

Blood, charred meat, pepper. Savory, slightly bitter, reminiscent of seared fat. Delicious and so quaffable, and an amazing QPR!
