Needs about 30 min of decanting but then it really opens up. Lots of black currant fruit but also notes of leather and oak. Has a lively acidity and a firm tannin touch. Could probably need more time but I don’t feel that it will improve. The alcohol is fairly dominant and ruined the balance a bit. But, overall a lovely wine despite the warm vintage.

Color: deep ruby Nose: plum, raisin, wet stone, cedar Taste: plum, red fruit, anise, earth Lots of red fruit upfront then grips with firm tannins and finishes with anise, earth and mushrooms. The finish lingers. This has a few years to go.

Toscana wine tasting (at Adina's): dark opaque red-purple. ripe dark fruity aromas & flavours with notes of earthiness, leather, cigar box, smoked meat and fine spices. full bodied, good acidity, firm round tannins, powerful, chocolate and mocha coffee, rustic, great with Toscan dishes. Great flashy warm alcoholic finish.

Tuscan dinner (Steak House restaurant, San Vincenzo): dark opaque red-purple. ripe dark fruity aromas & flavours with notes of leather, cigar box, smoked meat and fine spices. full bodied, good acidity, firm round tannins, powerful, chocolate and mocha coffee, rustic, great with Toscan dishes.
