Oh yes! This Domaine consistently cranks out quality wine and this is no exception. Compared to my last tasting more developed. less in need of the food right now. Very happy...

Definitely needs a bit of air, as it has a bit of the funk I often associate with northern Rhone wines when just opened. Garrigue, savory, dark fruit becoming almost floral after being open for a while. Almost dense enough to chew yet becoming more elegant over time.

Excellent, right out of bottle the nose sang with great dark fruit, earth, brambley richness, decanted half bottle as it seemed a bit tannic, and 30 mins later was perfect. Lovely nuance across the palate and finish, some spice and herb emerging out of the medium rich fruit. Good balance and length. Concur with Soto325 notes and served with steak au poivre, and that was a fine, intoxicating combination.

Kind of like a Tom Hanks wine—one cannot help liking it. Every bottle (in multiple vintages) I have had since first trying it at Racine’s years ago has been nothing short of a crowd pleaser. Barral is just terrific in extracting the terroir here, with a Rhone grape melange led by carignan and grenache in the Faugeres sun. Well balanced, perfect with gutsy food and good to go from the bottle. Not the complexity of the Valinieres, which I prefer— for aged steak, complex dishes, and refined fare— but just so delicious in and of itself. The brambly sweet dark red fruits, deep, deep soil, a hint of mourvedre-like barnyard scents at the tail, and a lush dark red passage all come together nicely.

Drinking (very) well but no rush. Next time try with food; this is a food wine.
