We opened this sooner than we should have. Benefits enormously from decanting as it's still a very dense and powerful beast. Dark and extracted, but in a muscular and sturdy profile - no jamminess here. Dark fruits, hints of mushroom sneaking in, still that slightly ferrous back edge. A bit of heat began to develop on the finish, but everything was so polished and smart, it didn't detract. Very firm and sappy tannins. You would struggle to blind taste this as Pinot and probably struggle even more to identify California. It really is quite a wine.

Shared on the couch after a racous holiday party at the Pawasarats with the McCoskeys and all their children. Sarah lost Mario Kart to Stan. Both were tired when we came home from the noise. The wine was as delicious as we’d remembered, reminiscent of the fog on the mountain in which the grapes grow, smooth, and velvety.

One of the few FR wines that comes closer to justifying the price (though there is better value out there). Perfumed fruit, but still quite dense. Pommard style really shows here, but there is a mushroomy sous bois complexity that is working its way in along with some rust. Great structure, tannins are sappy and acidity fresh, needs another 4 years or so.

This wine was pretty flat. Guessing it could be from a storage issue because a friend pretty much gave it to me but of course it's also 10 years old.
