  • Aged Herman Story w/ Brian & John (Our place): Decanted for one hour but was better after an additional 40 minutes or so. This wine is an interesting blend of Tempranillo 35%; Cabernet Sauvignon 32%; Syrah 25%; Mourvedre 6%; and Grenache 2%. The nose was dominated by dark red and some black fruits, along with some whiffs of chocolate. The medium to plus bodied palate showed a similar fruit profile with a good dose of spice and solid tastes of chocolate. The acidity was up to the task of balancing the above, and there were still some tannins on the finish. Should hold for several more years and best enjoyed with a serious decant.

  • Opaque, dark garnet-purple. Big black cherry-blackberry nose, sweet oakiness. Lots of concentrated dark fruit on the palate, but very round, plenty of tannin, acid and alcohol. All three to my taste should be a little less, to showcase the fruit a bit more. Very long aftertaste but tannin and alcohol linger beyond the fruit. It may soften with a bit more time but I'm skeptical it will get any better. Went well with Shrimp Creole, with a thick and slightly spicy tomato sauce.

  • Didn't decant, but let it open in the bottle and the glass over an hour. It's big, lots of tannins. Actually quite delicious, but needs the typical types of "big tannin" foods to stand up to it. If only my wife had pulled out some well aged cheddar. But we are in quarantine and pickins are slim.

  • Opaque dark red color. Hot dark berry aromas. Black raspberry liqueur with some charcoal on a lengthy finish.

  • Decanted 1 hr. Subtle dark fruit nose. Big, vibrant, well-balanced, consistent tastes of dark berries with a long finish. Delicious on a cold winter day.
