balanced and very in synch with itself. unmistakeable Rioja with crunchy intense spiced red fruits, a good dose of American oak spice & caramel but with a very refreshing acidity to keep it light-footed.
5 years left to it as a minimum. Drank through cases of the 05 which offered more complexity & depth but this one might be more fun to enjoy. A solid performer our good old Luis.

A blend of 85% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 20 months in new oak; 50% American and 50% French. Decanted. The nose shows the nuances from the oak, primarily the American with notes of shaved coconut, dill, vanilla, toffee, cedar and spicy oak that are met with notes dark cherry, cassis, slightly dried rose petal, tobacco, earth, ground coffee, cocoa and hints of balsamic. The entry onto the palate is silky smooth with a creamy mouth-filling texture. The moderate-plus tannins are polished and easy. Acidity in the wine is just above moderate. Flavors show notes of cassis, dark cherry, leather, vanilla crème, coconut, floral pastilles, earth, toasty oak, spice and hints of dried rose, balsamic and coffee. The finish is moderate a

Gracefully moving into tertiary territory. Relaxed red fruits, cinnamon, popcorn and tea leaves. Pretty acidity.

Bottle aging has improved an already wonderful wine. More powerful and nuanced.

Yummy, tons of glycerin, very nuanced with fruit and structure in equal measures.
