Anne Gros Wines from Southern France and Burgundy (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Ruby. Immediately more soil on the nose than the Echezeaux. Slightly more weight than that wine. Has some of the expected Clos Vougeot structure and reserve but by no means brutal, and again, nice texture and ripeness for a 2013. Not profound but very, very good. Again, the pristine nature is what shines through.

Medium red. Red and blue fruit, candied red fruit, spice. Very ripe, but not over ripe. A suave fruit bomb - the oak and tannin are hidden. Very delicious now and sexy feel. 70% new oak. 18 barrels maximum production.

Medium red. Nose has pretty and sparkling raspberry fruit and a very subtle underpinning of caramel and spice. The palate is also about the very pretty and pure raspberry fruit in a silky, voluminous frame. surprisingly approachable (gentle tannin)but also the stuffing to last!

Color is quite young obviously and medium in intensity. Not very complex, slightly peppery on the mid-palate and not very long...long story short...not worth the price and I highly preferred my SpierHead Pinot Noir 2012 earlier this week.

Clos Vougeot horizontal: 33 wines from the 2013 vintage (Fine+Rare Wine London): A sweet red fruit aspect, nougat as well. Then some earthy aspects. Rich and sap filled mid palate. Lacks a bit of subtlety, not very layered but a tasty drink with medium plus flavor intensity, even if somewhat monolithic in expression – and a medium, not long finish. Well, here we have a confirmation of terroir driven quality, as Anne Gros’ vineyards are in the upper part of the Clos with excellent southern solar exposure.
