  • this wine is in such a good place now-- complete and delightful. In this lighter vintage I doubt this wine has the potential for many years ahead and I encourage all of you lucky enough to hold bottles to enjoy them in the near term. 45 minute decant was ample to bring out the glory with a classic if subtle nose of garrigue and a well balanced, restrained and complex mouthful of CNP goodness.

  • Nose has some red fruit and hint of barnyard
After being open a couple of hours, it's pretty flat on the palate though with med- tannin and medium acid. It's fine, but not living up to my expectations.

Edit: with time, some florals came through...but not changing my overall opinion much.

  • Because it was quite bretty, it was hard to really discern whether this was corked, but given how dead it tasted, I think it must have been.

  • Generally regarded as a weak vintage and this is reflected in a less concentrated, extracted and atypical cnp. Some elegance here with medium weight and complexity. Will not hood remaining bottles much longer

  • I have since a long time grown weary of the alcoholic jammy messes that some Ch9 tend to be and never find myself hankering for one, but I had in total three bottles of which this was one. I have kept it in perfect conditions since purchase.

This was actually really good! There is some beginning maturity giving it a silky feel - there is also ample freshness, there is more raspberry and dried strawberry than I would have thought. Of course I can’t help but mention ”garrigue” and there is a small dose of barnyard. For my taste, this is in a really great spot but I do wish I had a couple more but I don’t. Maybe I should have more ch9 in the cellar?
