  • Tuesday night blinds: [Tasted Double Blind] This pours light garnet in the glass with medium bricking. The nose is of dried cherries, dark chocolate, wet hay, bay leaf, gravelly dusty soil, and pink flowers. The palate is open knit and expansive with ripe plummy fruit. Tannin is low, acid is medium. The finish is light and tarry, herbal, and leathery. This is another one that came across as clearly Chateauneuf du Pape. I guessed this was Beaucastel from the early 90s or late 80s. Lovely wine.

  • This pours light garnet in the glass. Light bricking. The nose is immediately expressive, mature, open and complex. Aromas are of lightly dried plums, wet hay, grilled pork, old leather, slight olive notes, light pepper notes, bay leaf, ash, and lightly dried orange peel. The palate is light in body, featuring low tannin, medium acid, medium plus alcohol and a lovely red fruited note. There is only a hint of the porty/overripe notes that can dominate CdP. Beautiful!

  • Great depth with a very meaty nose with a touch of black truffle. Some santal and dark fruit appear with a good breath. Lovely wine, a typical CDP with a good amount of mourvedre. The acidity is right there to counterbalance the richness and sweetness of the grenache: not heavy, not sweet beautiful wine for food. Bravo!

  • Dark garnet. Beautiful nose. Well integrated aromas of fruit melange, cherries jubilee, and sweet well-integrated oak. Delicious and hard to put down. Gulpable. Great bottle.

  • Still a lovely cool cat, minerals galore, but with the underlying, embracing sweetness of Grenache. My last bottle, only half sad about that - I think this is peaking now; a great effort, very good example of the underrated vintage. Will keep longer, but probably not develop tot he better.
