I was concerned opening this bottle after seeing 2 "flawed bottle" reviews. Luckily my bottle was perfect. Fruit has subsided but still a very enjoyable bottle of wine.

At 12 years of age one would expect this Chianti to be at full maturity but there’s no doubt this still has some evolution and another decade of life ahead. Many reviews compare this to a Brunello, but I think it is more fruit force and less elegance than a good Brunello.
The nose is rich and oak dominant with powerful notes of sweet vanilla and clove.
On the palate this wine is full bodied with chalky tannins and a pronounced acidic backbone. I can’t imagine this wine would be enjoyable young.
Flavours add baking spices and black cherry / blackberry. Even some jasmine tea on the finish.
High quality wine meant for the cellar. I’d love to try again in 2025 or 2030.

I enjoyed this more than the previous bottle two years ago. It still seems young but has rounded out a bit. I don’t doubt that it can improve further with a couple more years of aging. Drink or hold.

Corked. Too bad, because you can tell it’s a good wine.

Served blind, this wine was tannic yet oxidized, pretty sure this was a bad bottle however the cork was in perfect shape.
