Sunday hangout (and goodbyes) (Chicago, IL): Been over five years since I had this last. This is probably peak Muscadet for me. It still holds plenty of freshness, but with delicious salinity and a squeeze of citrus. Not complex, but eminently quaffable and along with the Haut-Brion blanc (which costs orders of magnitude more), the best pairing with the oysters today. But surely that can't have been a surprise.

Consumed tonight with a chicken/black bean sauce stir fry. Fresh, crisp with a rainwater purity to it, it showed beautifully with the food. The minerality overlays a green apple fruit core. Muscadet of this quality is virtually ageless and is one of the best values on the planet.
One sniff and one sip. A smile breaks out and the words, “Lemon drop!” drips from the mouth. Yes, loads of mineral and wet limestone pull up the finish and yes, other citrus flavors of lime and tangerine frame and lift the lemon. But lemon drop best sums up the wine. Laser like crispness that pops the palate. What’s not to love about a wine that costs very little ($13.00). Faux cork closure. 12% alc. With shrimp scampi. Recommended.

No real notes. Enjoyed in the company of Jodi Smith Dainaheu, Natalie Smith Bokhome, Charee, Smith Ficco, BBH and J. Von Brannock with assorted foods of shrimp, chili, country ham (pork) in R’mond 01.11.19.

What’s not to love about a wine that costs very little ($13.00) and delivers joy over two days! Mineral, wet limestone, and citrus (lemon, lime and tangerine) on the nose and palate. Laser like crispness that pops the palate. Zippy. Faux cork closure. 12% alc. With nothing in particular as we snack and sip over two days preparing for Christmas. 12.23-4.18. Recommended.
