Just opened this and the 1999 vintage at the same time. I agree that the 1998 is now past it's prime. It was still quite good and very smooth but the 1999 had much more body.

A little past its prime, so I cannot tell how it was 2 to 3 years ago. This is the 3rd bottle of wine from the 97 and 98 vintages that has not held up well with time. It was cellered at 59 degrees so it should have maintained its fruit and depth/body.94 and 95 Caymus are starting to turn as well as Berringer Reserves.

Impressive and showed real depth above all else. Light fruit, cherry and raspberry notes...a little barnyard on the nose. Followed by a midpalate and finish that was deep, balanced and soft. Best wine I have had in awhile.

Wish I'd grabbed a case! Really smooth with lots of raspberry!
