Blind tasting. Immediate nose of metal , fresh blood, sap and alcohol. Mouth surprisingly fresh and complex with minerality, red fruit, cigar box and a bit of heat at the end. Exactly my type. But not the hot vintage. Very well made in this awkward vintage.

Granato denso e luminoso. Naso opulento ma molto fine, frutta scura, matura, ciliegia di Vignola, mirtillo, ma anche violette selvatiche, erbe aromatiche e sottobosco. Tessuto di tannini a grana finissima buon equilibrio, aiutato da una certa freschezza, per nulla sopra le righe. Ricco e raffinato, finale lungo e impressione di maturità che non tracima e non disturba. L'avevo assaggiato circa un anno fa e mi sembra migliorato. Penso che lo farà ancora. la stoffa c'è.

Benvenuto Brunello - Toronto 2016: Solid, but bordering on a bit too big and ripe for me for me, possibly due to the vintage, though still enjoyable. The nose is of dark cherry, wet hay, rosemary and dark cherry jelly. The palate enters on the sweet, dense, ripe fruit. It's quite structured with high tannin and moderate acid. Seems like it could pick up a few points over time if it settles down and the slight over ripeness subsides.
