  • I suppose this is by nature a red wine, but it's very light in colour, and could easily be mistaken for a dark rose. Well, that's not a problem. and neither (for me) is the fact that it is distinctly cloudy: I'm guessing it is unfiltered. On the nose it has an attractive cherryish initial impact and a complex undergrowth of secondary aromas...too hard to pin down. On the palate, light as you'd expect from the colour and the 11.5% alcohol. Yet with the fleeting first impression of cherry-juice sweetness followed up immediately by a dry mid-palate, which develops into a long, dry finish with very fine tannins. This wine puzzled me at first - neither red nor rose, light but persistent, sweet-smelling but dry on the palate - but as my glass empties I find I like it more and more. Thirst-quenching, certainly. But there's a lot more to it than that. Screwcap.
